Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a TTRPG that explores the series' post-pandemic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to launch in April of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the table, providing fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement.

Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in NYC, plunging the United States into chaos. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and violent factions emerge, turning the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the players enter the story.

Development on the RPG has been underway for about three years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a pre-launch sales platform to reach a wider audience, particularly in the United States. Production will start right after the campaign, with shipping expected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and strategic style. Players use skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of adding results together, players choose a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Engagements Focus On Positioning and Awareness

Fights prioritize positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Elements like cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This system is designed to reward teamwork and smart positioning over raw numbers.

A Thematic Health Mechanic

The way health is managed adds a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an agent is downed, but is not knocked out.
  2. They may still move and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state seen in video game shooters.
  3. Any player in this state must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.

An Introductory Scenario

A free Quickstart Guide is promised in the near future. It includes a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the hunt for a missing medical team and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup are expected to be detailed closer to the Kickstarter start date.
