It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
