Jurgen Klopp admits coming back to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that returning someday remains an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought continental glory and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, currently occupies roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance for the DFL.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would embrace the idea that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he shared with his interviewer: “I stated I won't manage another team on English soil. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”
“Being 58, that means I might decide down the line, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on which situations must arise to bring him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he isn't eager to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, yet sharing a meal with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. With many victories thus frequently great spirits around the place. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, crediting him due to the changes which secured the championship last campaign. They've been defeated a string of losses in all competitions post heavy investment, but he rubbished the idea it could be the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, incredible player. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
He shared movingly regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and the effect on Liverpool. The Portugal international died tragically in a car crash with his brother in July.
“How do you replace a person like him? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the team environment missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. A profound tragedy for the entire squad too. Not a single person would cite it to justify results yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Impossible.”
